SUMMARY
We report 19 cases of Adult Primary Pure Teratoma of the testis at Instituto de
Enfermedades Neoplasicas. Despite its histologically benign appearance, the tumor have
metastatic potential and behave similarly to other non seminomatous germ cell tumors. We
present our experience with the natural history and management of the cases. The
metastasis were: 11 cases retroperitoneal, 7 cases lung, 4 cases supraclavicular lymph
nodes, 2 cases axilar lymph nodes, 1 case liver and 1 case kidney. 7 patients dead. In
conclusion, Pure Testicular Teratoma in adults, despite its histologically benign
appearance, is a rare malignant tumor with the ability to metastasize.
