SUMMARY
We analyze the impact of lymph node metastasis in relationship to otherwise
equivalent prognostic factors and definitive surgical management in patient with Thyroid
carcinoma. From 174 patients treated at ESSALUD IV-CUSCO since 1997 to August 2001 for
increase of volume the thyroid gland, 36 cases were classified and included in study. The
analysis of data is retrospective, descriptive, and matched-pair. Thirty three were women
(92%) with a frequency of 11: 1 for men. The median age was 47 years, and 53% of patient
was older 45 years. From seventeen patients with extent capsular 76% had lymph node
metastasis. The solitary thyroid nodule was predominant in 64% of cases. 53% was stage 1
and sixteen of them had < 45 years. Ours conclusions, the cervical lymph node
metastasis is not a significant prognostic indicator and Thyroidectomy near total and
total were more employed.
